A family friendly event about the Haslingfield Neighbourhood Plan

23 June 2024, 2- 5pm at Haslingfield Village Hall

Join the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group for this fun, family-friendly, interactive event including:

  • A History of Haslingfield in 5 sketches from members of Haslingfield Little Theatre
  • Historical displays from the Village Society
  • The results of our first parish Neighbourhood Plan consultation – what did your neighbours think?
  • What a Neighbourhood Plan Can Do, What it Can’t Do, What it Should Do
  • Inspiring examples from the Neighbourhood Plans of neighbouring villages like Foxton, Gamlingay, Histon and Fulbourn
  • Have your say: Mapping our green spaces, views, heritage and biodiversity
  • Facilitated conversations about what we as a community want for Haslingfield’s future
  • Launch of the first Haslingfield Tree Walk
  • Activities for kids

We’ve only just begun the process of creating a plan that could influence how Haslingfield develops over the next half a century. Be a part of the conversation. Tree work to be carried out

Following the last Conditions and Hazard Assessments for trees on Parish land, the second phase of work is scheduled to commence on 12th February 2024 and will be carried out by Shire Trees.

Neighbourhood Plan Digital Survey

In June 2023, Haslingfield Parish Council voted to formally start work on the Neighbourhood Plan (NP).  A Neighbourhood Plan is a way for local communities to have a say in the future of the places they live and work.  Once approved by the local authority, Neighbourhood Plans have to be considered by the planning authority when making planning decisions.

Completing the survey will help make sure the NP team have everyone’s views of our village and the surrounding parish as it is at the moment.  Any personal information you share with us will remain confidential.

Paper copies of the survey have been delivered to every household in the village and more are available in the shop, churches and from the clerk.  The survey can be completed digitally by following this link: NP Digital Survey 

Official Haslingfield Skatepark Opening

The time has come for the official opening of Haslingfield’s new skatepark!  Please come down on Friday, 27 October from 1-5pm.  There will be a best trick competition, open jam, prizes and giveaways.  Hope to see you there!

Notice of Conclusion of Audit

Haslingfield Parish Council has received the external auditor’s report for the 2022-23 financial year.  The report (AGAR Section 3) can be found under Documents – Finance.

The Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) is available for inspection by any local government elector on application to the Parish Clerk.

Parish Council vacancies

Haslingfield Parish Council has two vacancies:

Administrator to the Badcock Recreation Ground Trust

The Parish Council is looking for someone to support the Trust that runs the Village Hall for approximately 6 hours a week.  The appointee will report to the Parish Clerk.  The ideal candidate would have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, be a good administrator and have sound communication skills.  You will be required to work an average of six hours per week, mostly working from home and be available to attend occasional evening meetings to take the minutes.  Full training will be given.  The rate of pay is based on NALC’s Salary Scale 19 at £14.48 per hour.

Caretaker for the Village Hall

The Parish Council is looking for a caretaker the Village Hall for approximately 10 hours a month.  The appointee will report to the Parish Clerk.  The role involves inspecting the hall weekly, internally and externally, and carrying out or reporting any necessary repairs; setting the heating system to accommodate bookings; carrying out repairs and maintenance agreed with the Clerk; and meeting contractors.  The hours are flexible, and the rate of pay is £12.00 per hour.

New Parish Councillor vacancy

There is a vacancy at Haslingfield Parish Council caused by the resignation of Cllr Ratnasothy.

A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if within 14 days (computed in accordance with the Regulations) from the date of the notice, ten electors for the parish give notice in writing requesting that an election be held.

Such notice must be delivered to the Returning Officer at South Cambridgeshire District Council, South Cambridgeshire Hall, Cambourne Business Park, Cambourne, Cambridge, CB23 6EA.

If no such notice is given, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

Haslingfield Greenway Drop-In – 12 July 2022

The Haslingfield Greenway will be a new walking, cycling and, where appropriate, horse-riding route between Haslingfield, Grantchester, Cantelupe Farm and Cambridge with a spur from Haslingfield to Hauxton.

It is one of twelve Greater Cambridge Greenways that will make journeys easier, cheaper, healthier, greener and pleasant into and out of Cambridge and to enjoy the countryside for leisure purposes. They will also help to make local journeys, such as school and nursery runs safer and easier.

From next week, Greater Cambridge Partnership would like to hear your views on the Haslingfield Greenway.

You will be able to learn more and provide your views via the following options:

  • An online survey will run from Monday 11th July until Friday 5th August 2022. Please come back to this page on 11th July for the survey link
  • On Tuesday 12th July we will host a drop-in at Haslingfield Village Hall:
